Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work? Or is it more like letting your mind flow freely to witness the surprising results of your actions?
For me, creativity can come in both forms. I could be writing about something deeply personal, or sometimes I have fun with my imagination. My favorite kind of writing is when I mix the two.
My poetry is therapeutic and my privacy is important to me, so my writing is an opportunity to express myself without going into exact details.
Of course, readers can infer and come to their own conclusions but I don’t kiss and tell!
Were you ever discouraged? If so, how did it affect your creativity?
I have been discouraged, but I am the culprit of such discouragement. Social media has a way of making me feel inadequate, especially as a self-promoting writer. One can lose their sense of worth in “likes” and it’s hard to reel yourself back in. Positive self-talk helps and a daily reminder that I don’t write for anyone else but myself.
Writing brings me joy and until it doesn’t anymore, I will write.
What is your favorite color? Does this color describe your as a person? Please
explain.
I don’t have a favorite color and I think that describes me perfectly. I can’t choose just one, that could be why coloring stresses me out! (haha). Colors make me happy and it seems I can’t limit myself. I’m the same way with careers and learning. I’m a sponge and I want to experience everything. I don’t want to stop growing and blooming into all the shades that make up who I am.
If you could interview a creative person (past or present), who would that person be? Please explain your choice.
If I could, I would interview Robin Williams. His story is so beautifully sad and I’ve thought about him throughout the years since his passing. It’s remarkable how someone that brought so much joy through comedy, felt so alone. I’d want the opportunity to tell him that he is deeply missed and he made a difference with the time he spent on this earth.
What Do You Think Are The 5 Most Beautiful Things in The World? Why?
Architecture. Nature. Kittens. Laughter and Chocolate. No explanation.
What’s the Thing You Most Want to Achieve Before You Die?
It’s difficult to answer this question, because it’s like picking my favorite color, there’s so many shades to an achievement. I want to genuinely express love, empathy and kindness throughout my life. Before I die I want to make sure that those I care for, know that I love and support them. I want to make so many memories with them that provide tokens of happiness.
I want to leave this world knowing I took advantage of each day to make someone’s day….that’s what I want to achieve before I die.
